The 2021 Art Poster Pop Up Gallery Shop at Dunedin Airport was an independent arts support project initiated and curated by Artist Jo St Baker.
Having been invited to come up with an idea for an empty space at Dunedin’s International Airport. Jo extended the opportunity to artists and art businesses from across Otago to create a ‘work of art’ poster that represented themselves, showed their unique work and contact location.
This project created a Contemporary Arts Information Platform, situated in the terminal that formed a cultural conduit to Dunedin City and the extended Otago Region.
With a love of bringing people together through arts and events Jo joined with (friend) Business Manager Julie Ashton and 3 silent members to create Activated Spaces Initiative
A bit of history: This independent project was an extension of an earlier initiative that saw Jo activate an empty retail space at Mon Komo Hotel on Brisbane’s Moreton Bay. A program that she built up and ran as st + baker + studio gallery for 7 1/2 years. During that time she managed, coordinated and curated exhibition, events and workshops encouraging cultural gatherings and business networking.
Jo is a well know artists who’s vivid and detailed paintings and Limited Edition Prints are available from Gallery De Novo 101 Stuart Street, Dunedin.
Jo’s studio is situated on Level 1, 1 Dowling Street, Dunedin.
